15000 years ago, a giant flood turned Britain into an island.

A huge flood hundreds of thousands of years ago cut Britain off from the rest of Europe and turned it into an island, according to a new study that offers clues to how England was settled.

SKULLS CONFIRM WE AE ALL FROM AFRICA.

An analysis of thousands of skulls shows modern humans originated from a single point in Africa and finally lays to rest the idea of multiple origins, British scientists said on Wednesday.
Most researchers agree that mankind spread out of Africa starting about 50,000 years ago, quickly establishing Stone Age cultures throughout Europe, Asia and Australia.

But a minority have argued, using skull data, that divergent populations evolved independently in different areas.
The genetic evidence has always strongly supported the single origin theory, and now results from a study of more than 6,000 skulls held around the world in academic collections supports this case.

NICE QUOTE

And in the end , its not the years in your life that count. Its the life in your years that counts.

ESTABLISHING A MEANING TO LIFE

  • In these days of materialism, many have the means to live but hardly any meaning to live for.
  • Even after securing for himself full financial security and abundant wealth, man continues to accumulate, driven by the fear of having to face boredom, in the absence of any abiding interests or serious hobbies.
  • The very idea of facing a single moment of quietude or solitude is frightening for these souls, who know not what they want or need in life.
  • In feverish frenzy, they are snared into various entanglements and activities.

  • The true seeker of worthwhile living, however, however, establishes for himself a meaning to life and living, nurturing his cherished dreams and aspirations, while at the same time, stabilising his financial position for effective worldly living.
  • The ancient Indian concept of Artha, presupposes the need also to set one's sight on sublime issues, in conformity with one's personality.
  • The worldly person has to go about doing the needed work for discharging his financial and worldly duties to himself and others, while constantly dwelling within on his vision, dreams and goals ( lakshya ) which are close to his heart.
  • One who adopts this approach, not merely secures for himself and those dependent on him, the needed financial security, but also is enabled thereafter to pursue his true interests. These would continually cheer him on, motivating him to high levels of accomplishment and fulfillment.Feelings of boredom, emptiness or inadequacy, would thus never affect him.
  • In stages , and slowly, one should set for himself a course, even if pressures and commitments assail him. The prayer in the Upanishads, Tamso ma jyotirgmaya is very much suited here. This verily is the progress which enables one to discover a meaning and thus joy in life and living. Such a fortunate person is indeed, never, ever affected by what Wordsworth calls, " the dreary intercourse of daily life."

STOP CHASING YOUR THOUGHTS

  • Society and its institutions , control You through fear and greed.
  • These institutions believe that unless you are prodded by fear and greed , you cannot be effective, productive and valuable. But productive to whom ? Certainly not to your own self, but perhaps to the benefit of these institutions.
  • Fear and greed make You seek the external world for fulfillment. You seek to act on your thoughts and words. But these can never be fulfilled. The same fears and greed reappears , no matter how many times you may have experienced them before.
  • If nature provided within you a system that converts bread into blood, can it not take care of providing you with bread as well ?
  • Nature does not trust you with anything that is critical to your living. That is why all your essential activities such as breathing, growing etc all happen without our involvement.
  • Therefore stop acting on your thoughts. Stop looking for their meaning. Instead seek the source of your thoughts. For instance , if you feel hungry, ignore that thought. When your body feels that desperate hunger , it will by itself seek and procure the food to fulfill its needs.
  • You are in Rajas, the mode of aggression , when you act on your thoughts. When you stop acting on your thoughts, you are in tamas. That is what you are afraid of. There is nothing to fear. You will stay in this state of inaction till your hatred against this state of restlessness and greed gets worked out. Once that happens, you will have come out of that tamasic state, purified.
  • You do not move from tamas into rajas and then into satva, in sequence, as most people think.
  • You do not , as you may think, move from inaction into aggression and then into peace.
  • You start with Rajas, which is the state of your day to day activity, when you are in the state of doer ship, seeking to fulfill the meaning of your thoughts and words.
  • When you stop seeking meaning, you will fall into inaction or tamas, for a brief period, till you start seeking the source of your thoughts and move into satva.

YOU WILL FEEL THE EFFECT OF INNER HEALING, AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT THE UNIVERSE DOES TAKE CARE OF YOU.

GOODNESS MAY INVOLVE A LOT OF BRAINS

  • Social insects such as wasps and termites are known to help each other with no mutual trade off or benefit to themselves.
  • Among bees, for example, there is a whole class of sterile members who exist only for the care and protection of others - often at the cost of their own lives.
  • This behavior is for the greater good of the whole colony which is regarded as a super organism.
  • It is something like our body cells which continuously die so that we can go on living.
  • Humans and other equally large brained animals like the dolphins and chimpanzees seem to possess the unique trait of deliberately helping others of their kind and also humans , even when there might be a cost to themselves.
  • Researchers are beginning to believe that such behavior may be linked to having a lot more brainpower and acumen as manifested by these three species and other creatures.
  • This means that one aspect of virtue at least is a direct function f intelligence.

TO PUT IT ANOTHER WAY, NOT BEING GOOD IS PRETTY DUMB.

FREEDOM TO CHANGE & GROW

  • in hindu relifion, known as Sanatan Dharm , or eternal conduct, scriptures are two fold, namely Srutis and Smrutis.
  • Srutis are the truths experienced by the great sages of yore.
  • Sruti is theoretical inner science while Smruti is applied inner science. One cannot exist without the other.
  • Smrutis are the societal regulations which follow from the experiences of the rishi, the great masters.
  • From the spirituality of the experienced truth , that was sruti, smruti emerged as religion.
  • Sanatan darm is the only philosophy that says that its scriptures can be changed.
  • It provided at its very inception, the freedom to change the smruti.
  • The great masters provided to their disciples to add, modify and comment upon their recommendations , by separating them from their experienced truth.
  • This is the reason why Hinduism is the only religion that has spread without coercion, conversion and proselytising and will continue to survive and grow for many more thousands of years.
  • Only people of courage and intelligence can say that their truths are open to be commented upon. The vedic rishis were of that calibre. How can regulations that were relevant thousand of years ago, be relevant today.
  • In the vedic tradition , no one is considered a true master unless he has studied , internalised and commented upon the scriptures in an original and creative way.
  • Any philosophy that is bound and frozen in the name of divinity will die.
  • A living religion must have the courage and flexibility to change based on an understanding of its spirituality.
